US – China Military Competition and the Position of Muslim Ummah

News:

China and the United States are navigating escalating tensions in the Asia-Pacific amid efforts to restore defense communication channels. Despite the US maintaining a current military edge over China, analysts suggest this gap is narrowing as China enhances its military capabilities through modernization and technological advancements. Recent meetings between Chinese Defence Minister Dong Jun and US counterpart Lloyd Austin underscored firm stances on Taiwan, amidst increased military activities in the region. China, viewing Taiwan as part of its territory, has intensified military drills, prompting US concerns and warnings. The Pentagon notes China's naval expansion surpassing the US in ship numbers, with projections indicating further growth. While both nations compete in military prowess, collaboration with Indo-Pacific allies could shape future balances. Meanwhile, Washington's strategic alliances in the region, bolstered by initiatives like Aukus, aim to counterbalance China's influence, highlighting a complex geopolitical landscape with implications for global security dynamics. Comment:

The military competition between the US and China underscores the critical importance for a nation to possess robust military strength to safeguard its interests both domestically and internationally. Furthermore, a nation with global-scale military capability is poised to make significant contributions to global affairs.

As militarily dominant powers, the US and China exert substantial influence across various regions worldwide, including the Asia-Pacific, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. However, their secular ideologies often prioritize national interests at the expense of humanitarian values. China's policies in Xinjiang and Tibet, along with US interventions in Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Libya, and Afghanistan, exemplify this dynamic. Continued US military support for Israel underscores its role in conflicts affecting Muslim populations in Palestine.

Historically, Islamic civilization flourished under the leadership of Prophet Muhammad (saw), expanding across Asia, Africa, and Europe. This era of prosperity was sustained by a righteous ideology and formidable economic and military strength. It ensured security from external disruptions and facilitated positive contributions to global civilization.

It is incumbent upon the Muslim world to revisit this history of past achievements and earnestly strive to reclaim its former glory. Reestablishing Islam through the establishment of a caliphate is seen as pivotal to reviving past successes and securing a prosperous future.
