Upset Grows as Trump Turns His Back on Muslim Supporters

News:

Muslims who voted for Trump upset by his pro-‘Israel’ cabinet picks.

WASHINGTON, Nov 14 (Reuters) - U.S. Muslim leaders who supported Republican Donald Trump to protest against the Biden administration's support for ‘Israel's’ war on Gaza and attacks on Lebanon have been deeply disappointed by his Cabinet picks, they tell Reuters. (Reuters)

Comment:

Muslim leaders in America who supported Donald Trump in the 2024 election find themselves once again grappling with regret. Many believed their support was a form of protest against the Biden administration's inadequate response to genocidal atrocities, hoping to shift the political balance in favor of Muslim concerns. However, their hopes have been dashed with Trump’s recent Cabinet appointments, which have caused widespread shock.

Particularly troubling are the nominations of Marco Rubio as Secretary of State, Pete Hegseth as Defense Secretary, Mike Huckabee as ambassador to the Jewish entity, and Elise Stefanik as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. Each of these appointees have a history of strong support for the Zionist occupation, a position that stands in stark opposition to the values and aspirations of Muslim communities. The expectation that their backing of Trump would yield positive change in U.S. policy toward the Muslim world has proven misplaced. Instead, these appointments highlight an administration more aligned with the Zionist agenda that many had feared.

Community leaders have voiced their frustration, accusing Trump of betraying the promises made during his campaign. This betrayal has fueled feelings of humiliation among those who believed that their participation somehow would influence political change.

The situation serves as a glaring reminder that Muslims need to get behind the real work to resume their way of life. Islamic political activism must remain rooted in enjoining good, forbidding evil, and adhering to the Aqeedah. Participation in systems that legislate contrary to Allah’s laws is not only impermissible (haram) but also ineffective in achieving justice for the Muslim Ummah. Muslims are reminded that real change comes not from compromising principles for temporary gains but from steadfast commitment to Islamic rulings. Allah (swt) warned us wherein he said,

“O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you – then indeed, he is [one] of them. Indeed, Allah guides not the wrongdoing people.” [Al-Ma’ida:51]
