Sudanese Army Chief, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, stated his readiness to work with US President Donald Trump, while US-led ceasefire negotiations stalled. A statement from the military-affiliated Foreign Ministry indicated that Burhan, at the conclusion of an official visit to Riyadh at the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, affirmed “Sudan’s commitment to working with President Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and his Special Envoy for Peace in Sudan, Massad Boulos, in efforts to achieve peace and end the war.” A Sudanese government source explained that Burhan’s official visit to Riyadh aimed to discuss the initiative presented by the Saudi Crown Prince to the US President, during his recent official visit to Washington, to end the war in Sudan.
The US-led peace negotiations, involving the other members of the Quad mediating in Sudan —Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE — have stalled after Burhan rejected Boulos’s latest ceasefire proposal without explanation.
Before this statement, Burhan had been adamant that nothing less than a decisive victory in this war and the elimination of the last Rapid Support Forces’ (RSF) soldier would satisfy them. Indeed, the government’s stance has shifted dramatically, from talk of military mobilization, eliminating the militias, and liberating all Sudanese territory, to talk of the peace the Sudanese people are waiting for!
Burhan had previously described the Quad as biased, and accused the US envoy of echoing the positions of the UAE, which is accused of arming the Rapid Support Forces. However, the Sudanese political landscape has changed dramatically with Burhan’s capitulation, as he announces his readiness to work with US President Trump to end the ongoing war in Sudan!
These shifts in the stances of the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, are not surprising, as he is following in America’s footsteps and implementing its policies. He paved the way for this after President Trump stated during his speech at the US-Saudi Investment Forum that Mohammed bin Salman had requested a solution to the crisis in Sudan, adding that he had begun studying the issue just half an hour after the Crown Prince’s explanation! Trump also wrote on his Truth Social website that he would use the influence of the presidency to stop the war immediately!
Burhan responded the following day, welcoming these efforts. In a tweet on the X platform, he wrote, “Thank you, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, thank you, President Donald Trump.” In a press statement on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, which appeared to have been prepared in advance, the Transitional Sovereignty Council stated, “The government welcomes the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America to establish a just peace in Sudan. It also thanks them for their concern and continued efforts to stop the bloodshed in Sudan and affirms its readiness to engage seriously with them to achieve the peace that the Sudanese people are waiting for...”
It is clear that America wants to reap the fruits of the war it ignited, especially after the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) seized control of all of Darfur, and still control large parts of Kordofan, ostensibly to protect Darfur’s borders. The solution welcomed by the Sovereignty Council, some political forces, and some media outlets is the same solution proposed by the Quad, which equates the army with the RSF. And on this basis, the solution will be implemented! President Trump’s advisor, the U.S. Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos, tweeted, “A key priority is intensifying our joint efforts — both bilaterally and through the Quad — to help bring a peaceful end to Sudan’s conflict. We agreed on practical steps toward a humanitarian truce, durable stability, and expanded humanitarian access and assistance for the Sudanese people.”
As for why America is accelerating its efforts to end the war in Sudan, it is to preempt European, and especially British, intervention in Sudan. One of the reasons for this disastrous war was to remove Britain and its allies from the scene by dismantling the so-called Framework Agreement, which it did.
And now America is striving to complete its scheme, and end the war by separating Darfur, just as it separated South Sudan in the name of peace. It wants to repeat the process.
Today, it is using the same tactic — stopping the war and achieving peace — to separate Darfur after empowering its agent, Hemedti, there and turning a blind eye to the formation of a parallel government. Its special envoy, Massoud Boulos, continues to speak of two sides, thus equating the army with the Rapid Support Forces.
O people of Sudan, do not be stung twice by America’s treachery! Rise up swiftly and thwart its plan to separate Darfur by returning to the rulings of Islam, as your Lord, Allah (swt), has commanded you. Allah (swt) said,
“If you disagree about something, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you truly believe in Allah and the Last Day.” [TMQ Surah an-Nisaa: 159]. Take action against those who are implementing America’s plans and urge them to adhere firmly to the truth. Work with Hizb ut Tahrir to establish the Second Khilafah Rashidah (Rightly Guided Caliphate) on the Method of Prophethood, which will cut off the hands of those who tamper with the unity of our country. Allah (swt) said,
[يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اسْتَجِيبُوا للهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ إِذَا دَعَاكُمْ لِمَا يُحْيِيكُمْ]
“O you who have believed, respond to Allah and to the Messenger when he calls you to that which gives you life.” [TMQ Surah al-Anfal: 24].
