In this blessed month of Ramadan, the Ummah displays their great desire to worship their Lord and to be extra attentive to the Quran as being a guidance and criterion to all that pleases and displeases Him. Taqwa is mentioned in the Quran as an essential part of the character of the Muslim both male and female. The origin of the word Taqwa is from the Arabic word 'Ittaqa which means to 'be wary and God fearing’.
