The foundations of the African city of Kairouan were built in Ramadhan 50 Hijri by ʿUqbah ibn Nāfiʿ ( عقبة بن نافع‎) was a military commander serving the Rashidun Caliphate since the Reign of Umar (ra) and later on the Umayyad Caliphate.
