Address to Ummah and Movement for Khilafah "Caliphate" in Hind

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

الحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله وعلى آله وصحبه ومن والاه، وبعد

Assalamu alaikum wa Rahmatallahi wabarakatu

 

Al Hamdulillah, Al Hamdulilahi Rabbil Alameen ...Wassalatu Wassalamu Ala Rasulihil Kareem, Amma Baad.

Qalallau Ta'ala fil Qur'anil Majeed, Ba'da Ayuqobullahiminashaitanirrazim, Bismillihirrahmanirraheem!

 

((الر ۚ كِتَابٌ أَنزَلْنَاهُ إِلَيْكَ لِتُخْرِجَ النَّاسَ مِنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ إِلَى النُّورِ بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَاطِ الْعَزِيزِ الْحَمِيدِ))

"(This is) a Book which We have revealed to you (O Muhammad [sal-Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam]) in order that you might lead mankind out of darkness (of disbelief and polytheism) into light (of belief in the Oneness of Allah and Islamic Monotheism) by their Lord's Leave to the path of the All-Mighty, the Owner of all praise." [Ibrahim: 1]

I bring you Greetings and wishes from the land of Mujahideen, and from the land of the scholars and knowledge, from the lands of soldiers like Tipu Sultan and Aurangzeb, the Muslims of the Subcontinent of Hind, Assalamualaikum warrahmatullahi wabarakatuh I praise Allah and thank Him for making us a part of this blessed conference, at the same time I would like to extend warm greetings and our gratitude to Hizb Ut Tahrir Indonesia and our Ameer, the great learned scholar Sheikh Ata Bin Khalil Abu Al-Rashtah, hafizahullah for organizing this conference.

The Hind subcontinent was opened at the hands of Mohammad bin Qasim Atthaqafi who was sent by the Umayyad Khaleefah al-Walid bin Abdul Malik as a leader of an army in the end of the first Hijri century when a group of Muslim sailors were arrested near the coast of Sindh. And because the Khaleefah of that time was different to the oppressive rulers of today's time who have strangled the throats of the Muslims and who stand like statues while atrocities are committed against the Muslims and that is why the Khaleefah sent the army for the support of the Muslims.

Hind remained a part of the Khilafah "Caliphate" for over a thousand years and in the era of the Khaleefah Haroon ar-Rashid (786 AH - 809 AH) the Islamic army spread over Sindh till Gujurat. And then the Muslim army built a base and established new cities in it and from that time onwards millions of non-Muslims started entering the folds of Islam in Hind moving out from the darkness of ignorance and shirk to the light of Islam, obeying none but Allah (swt) and His Messenger (saw). So the Islamic ruling was known to the people of Hind, Pakistan, Kashmir and Bangladesh for over 1000 years.

حَدَّثَنِي خَلِيلِي الصَّادِقُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : يَكُونُ فِي هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ بَعْثٌ إِلَى السِّنْدِ وَالْهِنْدِ ، فَإِنْ أَنَا أَدْرَكْتُهُ فَاسْتُشْهِدْتُ فَذَاكَ ، وَإِنْ أَنَا - فَذَكَرَ كَلِمَةً - رَجَعْتُ وَأَنَا أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ الْمُحَرَّرُ ، قَدْ أَعْتَقَنِي مِنَ النَّارِ

Abu Hurayrah (ra) narrated: "My true friend, Allah's Messenger (saw) said: "The armies of this Ummah will be sent to Hind." If I get the opportunity to participate in it and be martyred then that is one (auspicious) thing, and if I return then I will be the free Abu Hurayrah. The Exalted Lord would have given me freedom from Hell." [Ahmad, Nisai]

Hind had been one of the Wilayat of the Khilafah "Caliphate" from the time of the Delhi Sultanate 1205 - 1526 CE and till the end of the Mughal rule from 1526 - 1857 CE. The Muslims ruled Hind for well over a thousand years. The situation of the Ummah including the non-Muslims was prosperous to the extent that even today people in Hind say that during the Islamic rule, Hind was like a Golden Bird.

In 1857 when British had completely occupied Hind, the Muslims although small in number formed the frontier of Opposition. The names of Haider Ali and Tipu Sultan are still remembered with respect and honour as these governors stood against the British and fought valiantly.

Even after the British occupied Hind, the Muslims of Hind remained loyal to the Khaleefah in Istanbul and many of them continued to do Jihad against the colonialists like Syed Ahmad Shaheed and others.

During the First World War, mosques in Hind rang with fervent prayers whose Khutba would invoke the benediction of Allah for the well-being of the Sultan and the success of his armies in their effort to destroy the forces of Kufr.

Sheikh ul-Hind Maulana Mahmoud ul-Hasan who at that time was the head of the famous Darul Uloom Deoband passed orders to close the institute and that the students and teachers take part in Jihad to assist the Khaleefah. Sheikh ul-Hind supported the Khilafah "Caliphate" worked hard to protect it. He travelled to Hijaz to meet the governor of the Khaleefah in Makkah Mukarrama where he was arrested at the hands of the traitor Shareef Hussain on the 23 Safar 1335 AH. Shareef Hussain wanted the Sheikh to reject the Uthmani Khilafah "Caliphate" which the Sheikh and those with him rejected. The Sheikh was handed over to the British who imprisoned him in Malta where he remained in the prison for over three years. When he was released, he returned to Hind to become part of the famous Khilafat Movement also known as Tahreeke Khilafat.

 

Khilafat Movement:

The relationship of the Muslims of Hind with the Khilafah "Caliphate" was and is unique; it is like the relation of a mother and a child, an unbreakable one. So in 1918 when the seat of the Khilafah "Caliphate", Istanbul was occupied by British forces, the Muslims of Hind started the historical Khilafat movement for the preservation of the Khilafah "Caliphate". This movement was supported by many influentials of the time to the extent that even non-Muslims lent their hand to it. The Ulemah were on the forefront of this struggle and thus bore the brunt of the struggle to the maximum. The famous among these scholars are Maulana Mahmoud ul-Hasan, Maulana Mohammad Ali Johar, Maulana Shaukat Ali and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Even today the Khilafat Movement is part of the secular education system in Hind although ironically Muslims are given the understanding that it was a nationalistic freedom struggle.

The words of one of the pioneers of the Khilafat movements tells us the fire in the hearts of the scholars and the public at the destruction of the Khilafah "Caliphate", Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was one of the speakers of Khilafah "Caliphate" conference who published a book in 1920 called Masla-e-Khilafat (The Issue of Khilafah "Caliphate"), he stated: "Without the Khilafah "Caliphate" the existence of Islam is not possible, the Muslims of Hind with all their effort and power need to work for this."

Maulana Mohammad Ali Johar also stated: "The ruler of Turkey was the Khaleefah or successor of the Prophet and Amir-u-Mu'mineen or chief of the believers and the Khilafah "Caliphate" is as essentially our religious concern as the Quran or the Sunnah of the Prophet." And after Hind gained its so-called independence under "Jawaharial Nehru" the Muslim oppression continued. Hundreds and thousands of the Muslims were killed in Kashmir and other places and continue to be killed until today. Thousands of Muslim sisters were raped, masajid destroyed, and the lives of Muslims converted to hell. We all saw what happened in 2002 when 3000 Muslims were massacred in broad day light in Gujarat.

The capitalist system and the existing leadership in Hind have failed in solving the problems of the people. More than 40% of the population lives in poverty and over 70% of them live below 2 dollars a day. Over half of Hind does not receive electricity and those who do receive it have power failures most of the time. 40% of children suffer from malnutrition and starvation, not to forget that due to economic injustice and oppression has allowed tribal militants to take over about 40% of Hind.

 

Call for Khilafah "Caliphate" today:

Even after the destruction of the Khilafah "Caliphate", the people of Hind continued their struggle to reestablish the Khilafah "Caliphate", so in the 1940's Maulana Abul Ala Maududi stood up with a call to reestablish the Islamic State.

Even though the current generation has not seen the destruction of the Khilafah "Caliphate" but the idea of the Khilafah "Caliphate" is very vivid and deep within them. They are in pain because of their inability to manage their lives according to the rules of Islam. And a large majority of scholars in Hind and Islamic groups and thinkers call for the Islamic system. We all make duaa to Allah to reestablish the Khilafah "Caliphate".

Today Muslims of the subcontinent realize their identity as Muslims and they are affected by the issues that face the Ummah. They have always been at the forefront to stand up for the issues of the Ummah; for example, when in 2007 the West published the caricatures of the Prophet (saw), the Muslims in Hind organized protests, so much so that in the city of Bhopal which is an old Muslim city almost 300,000 Muslims with many holding the Raya and the ‘Uqab protested against it.

 

Conclusion:

The Khilafah "Caliphate" that the Prophet (saw) prophesized that we will unite the Muslims under one flag is very close to be established Inshallah and we make duaa to Allah to enable us to work under the leadership of Hizb ut Tahrir and we make duaa to Allah (swt) that we be part of those whom Rasoolullah mentioned in the Hadith:

يغزو قوم من أمتي الهند ، فيفتح الله عليهم ، حتى يلقوا بملوك الهند مغلولين في السلاسل ، يغفر الله لهم ذنوبهم ، فينصرفون إلى الشام فيجدون عيسى بن مريم بالشام

"Two groups amongst My Ummah would be such, to whom Allah has freed from fire: One group would attack Hind and the second would be that who would accompany Isa Ibn-e-Maryam (AS)."
