The Women’s Section in The Central Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir Launch its Ramadan Theme:

“From DARKNESS Into LIGHT”

Ramadan marks the start of the revelation of the Glorious Qur’an, sent by the Lord of the Worlds (swt), to take humankind from the depth of darkness and oppression of man-made beliefs, traditions and laws to the justice and Light of the System of Allah (swt), the All-Knowing, the Magnificent, the Supreme. Allah (swt) says,

﴿الٓر ڪِتَـٰبٌ أَنزَلۡنَـٰهُ إِلَيۡكَ لِتُخۡرِجَ ٱلنَّاسَ مِنَ ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ إِلَى ٱلنُّورِ بِإِذۡنِ رَبِّهِمۡ إِلَىٰ صِرَٲطِ ٱلۡعَزِيزِ ٱلۡحَمِيدِ﴾

“Alif Lam Ra. This is a Book which We have revealed to you that you may bring forth men, by their Lord’s permission from utter darkness into light – to the way of the Mighty, the Praised One.” [Ibrahim: 1]

In the midst of the darkness that engulfed the world and the Jahil Makkan society of the Qureysh, that was full of depravity and vice, fraud and injustice, poverty and tribal wars, came the revelation of a unique Deen which brought a new and distinctive way of thinking and life to humankind that revolutionized the political, economic, moral and social landscape of the world: ISLAM.

Its comprehensive message radically re-defined the beliefs, values and laws of nations in all spheres of life, destroying oppression, injustice and immorality in the lands that were graced with its system, and establishing for the people harmony and progress. Under its rule, it built a civilization which towered over other states and nations and was re-known for its justice, generosity, prosperity, academic excellence, scientific progress and security, enjoyed by those of all faiths who lived within its society, and who prospered in peace. And it raised an Ummah who embraced their role as the vanguards of The Truth and Carriers of the light of Islam to humanity.

However today, our Muslim lands and the entire world is once again submerged in abject darkness, plagued with political oppression, the slaughter of innocents, corruption, economic exploitation, epidemics of crime, the brutal occupation of lands, senseless wars, mass poverty, insecurity and lawlessness, violence against women, racism, the mistreatment of ethnic and religious minorities, the disintegration of the family unit, alcoholism and drug abuse, and all forms of immorality and lewdness.

This is the sad consequence of abandoning the System of Islam as the Muslim Ummah, the Khilafah (Caliphate) based upon the method of the Prophethood, which was the means to establish and spread the light of our Deen across the world. It is also due to downsizing Islam to a few rituals and practices rather than implementing it as a complete Deen to shape our affairs in all spheres of life – spiritual, moral, political, economic, judicial, social and beyond. It is the result of confining the Qur’an and Sunnah to our homes and mosques, rather than making them the basis of shaping the values, laws, policies and system in our lands. And it is the consequence of us as a Muslim Ummah disregarding the true purpose of Islam, and neglecting the vital obligation for which we were chosen by Allah (swt) – to take mankind from the darkness into the light through carrying His Deen to humanity. Indeed, Islam came to define the landscape of the world in all fields of life and not to be marginalized and viewed as irrelevant in the politics and affairs of a state. It came to set the agendas of nations and humanity and not to be reformed or discarded by current realities and the agendas of others.   

Today is a world that is in dire need of the Light of Islam. Humankind is crying out for guidance out of the darkness that engulfs it. And it is us, the Muslim Ummah who have been charged with the duty of fulfilling the purpose of the revelation of the Qur’an. But HOW do we ACHIEVE this? HOW can Islam SOLVE the plethora of PROBLEMS that afflict humankind today? What are the QUALITIES that we as Muslims must embody to be of the ‘JUST UMMAH’ and WITNESSES OVER HUMANKIND? What TESTS will lie in our way? And HOW do we overcome the OBSTACLES in fulfilling this vital responsibility? These are the issues that will be explored this Ramadan by the Women’s Section in The Central Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir in our theme…..“From DARKNESS Into LIGHT”.

﴿وَكَذَٲلِكَ جَعَلۡنَـٰكُمۡ أُمَّةً۬ وَسَطً۬ا لِّتَڪُونُواْ شُہَدَآءَ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَيَكُونَ ٱلرَّسُولُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ شَهِيدً۬ا﴾

“We have made you a just Ummah that you may be witnesses over the affairs of mankind, and the Messenger is a witness over you.” [Al-Baqara: 143]
