On Friday, January 19, 2024, Britain officially banned Hizb ut Tahrir, accusing it of anti-Semitism and endorsing the attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023, against the Jewish entity. It added the Hizb to its list of organizations classified as terrorist organizations.

During a private phone call between Benjamin Netanyahu and Joe Biden, Netanyahu reiterated his previous comments about rejecting the idea of creating a Palestinian state. Netanyahu has recently said, “I will not compromise on full ‘Israeli’ security control over all the territory west of the Jordan River — and this runs contrary to a Palestinian state.”

The British Parliament approves plans to classify the Islamic Political Group Hizb ut-Tahrir as a terrorist organization. This move comes following the group's participation in organizing marches in London, especially alongside pro-Palestinian marches during the conflict between ‘Israel’ and Hamas. Both the House of Commons and the House of Lords supported these plans, paving the way for the immediate implementation of the ban.

On Friday, 19 January 2024, Security Minister, Tom Tugendhat signed into law an order proscribing Hizb ut Tahrir in Britain as a terrorist organization. That was after British Parliament approved a draft order laid on Monday, 15 January 2024. This order makes belonging to Hizb ut Tahrir or inviting support for the group a criminal offence, with a potential prison sentence of 14 years, which can be handed down alongside or in place of a fine.
