UNAMA is a Political Instrument and a Spying Agency of Western Powers; its Mission in Afghanistan Must End Immediately!

The UN Security Council unanimously approved a resolution to extend the mandate of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) for another year. The periodic President of the UN Security Council called the resumption of UNAMA's presence in Afghanistan "necessary" and said that the international community seeks to "deepen interaction and build trust" with the Taliban.

The Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah Afghanistan condemns the extension of the mandate of UNAMA and considers it an evil and malicious mission – the continuation of which is a danger to the people of Afghanistan aimed at distracting the current rulers from full implementation of Islam.

UNAMA's mission is in fact associated with the occupation and policies of the great powers in Afghanistan. When the country went under US occupation, the mission of UNAMA was endorsed by the Security Council in 2002 aimed at bringing political, economic and ‘value-based’ reforms in Afghanistan. In fact, UNAMA has been the political and cultural arm of colonialism over the past 20 years of Republic which has made enormous efforts to lead secularization agendas and political reforms based on democracy while debilitating the Islamic values in the country. After the shameful withdrawal of the American and NATO forces, the political and cultural organizations and missions of the occupation should have also been removed from the face of Afghanistan. But not only did this dangerous mission continue, today UNAMA acts as a huge umbrella that covers 20 agencies, funds and programs aimed at promoting liberal values and democratic political reforms under the guise of humanitarian aid.

What has caused us the most regret and concern is that the official spokesperson for the Afghan government has welcomed the extension of the UNAMA’s mandate. He stated in the State-owned Afghanistan National TV: "InShaAllah (God willing), it will be for the good of Afghanistan because Afghanistan needs to communicate with countries and organizations. In this regard, UNAMA can act as a catalyst to strengthen ties." In fact, the United Nations, its missions and agencies are the spying agencies and political instruments of the Western powers whose activities have no other consequences other than evil and misery. Maintaining any relationship and carrying positive view towards the United Nations and other international institutions is a huge political mistake that has dangerous consequences.

[يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَتَّخِذُوا بِطَانَةً مِنْ دُونِكُمْ لَا يَأْلُونَكُمْ خَبَالًا وَدُّوا مَا عَنِتُّمْ قَدْ بَدَتِ الْبَغْضَاءُ مِنْ أَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَمَا تُخْفِي صُدُورُهُمْ أَكْبَرُ قَدْ بَيَّنَّا لَكُمُ الْآيَاتِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ]

“O believers! Do not associate closely with others who would not miss a chance to harm you. Their only desire is to see you suffer. Their prejudice has become evident from what they say—and what their hearts hide is far worse. We have made Our revelations clear to you, if only you understood.” [Aali-Imran: 118]
