Hizb ut Tahrir Scandinavia Strongly Condemn the Arson Attack on Islamisk Trossamfund

Hizb ut Tahrir in Scandinavia strongly condemns the arson attack against Islamisk Trossamfund (Wakf) today. It is about time, that the Danish community takes a deep look inward and puts the responsibility in the right place.

We have already seen the first “condemnations” from politicians, and there will most likely be more. But their words sound hollow. In the name of the freedoms and democracy, they have for years led thought-tyranny and witch hunts against the Muslims in this country and waged war against people abroad, which have resulted in the rising Islamophobia. When attacks of this type occurs, which is far from a unique case, the condemnation of the Danish politicians consists of calling to freedoms and democratic values, as if that should be the guard and savior of the Muslims.

The solution for the Muslim community is not increased surveillance from the authorities of mosques and other places of gathering. On the contrary, we should work in unity to eliminate Islamophobia. This can, amongst others, be done by presenting Islam in a clear and strong way, which can dismantle some of the prejudgments created by the media, and by challenging the negative stereotypes and the demonization, which Danish politicians are responsible for. At this point, this is done by rejecting the empty words of condemnation from the same mouths, which shed hate and attacks on Islam and Muslims.
