Press Release
A Delegation to the Uzbek Embassy in Vienna
(Translated)

On Wednesday, 11 Muharram 1446 AH corresponding to 17 July 2024 CE, a delegation from Hizb ut Tahrir headed by the party’s media representative in the German-speaking countries, Engineer Shakir Asim, went to the Uzbek embassy in Vienna to deliver a letter of protest, directed against the re-arrest of the members of Hizb ut Tahrir in Uzbekistan after they served their entire prison term of about 20 years. The delegation was received by a consulate employee.

The head of the delegation introduced the party and explained that it is a purely intellectual and political movement and does not engage in any material (violent) activities. On the contrary, the party rejects violence as a means to achieve its goals and strives to establish the Khilafah Rashidah (Rightly Guided Caliphate) on the method of the Prophethood in the Islamic countries. Therefore, it is a grave mistake for the Uzbek government to classify Hizb ut Tahrir as a terrorist organization just to please colonial countries like Russia. It is also completely unacceptable after the re-arrest of members to present them false confessions to sign, to threaten them with the rape of their wives and the arrest of their children if they refuse to sign.

The consulate staff member promised to send the letter to the Uzbek Foreign Ministry. The delegation thanked him for that and ended the meeting with the Islamic greeting.
