Press Release
Hizb ut Tahrir / Indonesia Condemns the Massacres Perpetrated Against the People of Egypt
(Translated)

The Egyptian military has carried out its threat against those performing the sit-ins in the two squares Rabaa Al-Adaweya and Al-Nahda in Cairo, who have protested against the removal of Mohammed Morsi by the Army, and demanded his return to office. On the 14th of August 2013, the military brutally launched fire on the protesters, leaving a large number dead and injured. While the government statement fixed the number of the dead and injured at a hundred people only, the Muslim Brotherhood said that the death toll reached three thousand people, the number of those wounded exceeding the mark of eleven thousand, and that most of the victims fell due shots directed at them, included three journalists.

There is no doubt these attacks explicitly indicate that the military in Egypt has become a machine to commit massacres against the Egyptian people, rather than protecting and maintaining it. Yes, America has officially condemned these massacres, but reality shows that this act had stood under support and guidance of the United States itself; because America has always supported the military forces in Egypt since the eras of Jamal Abdel Nasser, Anwar Sadat and Hosni Mubarak. For thirty years America has been providing military aid to Egypt. Egypt is one of the states mostly subsided by America, after the Jewish entity, providing military equipment including F-16 aircraft and military training. More than five hundred people from the military officials in Egypt receive a master's degree in higher military education in America each year. Indeed, the army commander who ousted Morsi is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College in Pennsylvania.

This position has clearly exposed American hypocrisy, as it condemns the massacres against the people of Egypt by the armed forces but did not declare that ousting Morsi from office is a military coup on the system. Rather America confirmed that it will maintain its relationship with the new regime set up by the military forces.

The control of America and the strength of its hegemony on the Egyptian army are affirmed by what was done by the Egyptian army from the ousting of Morsi to the massacres against the protesters with the support and the blessings of America. This is neither new nor strange for America has always supported the tyrant rulers as long as they conserved their interests...

Therefore Hizb ut Tahrir in Indonesia will hold a demonstration in front of the Egyptian embassy in Jakarta and major cities in Indonesia, to demonstrate the following:

1. The Hizb denounces the massacres committed against the people of Egypt by the armed forces. It is inconceivable that these acts are conducted by the army that was originally established in order to protect the people. There is no doubt that it is contrary to Islam, because whoever kills a single human unrightfully, it is as if he has killed all mankind...

2. The Hizb denounces the hypocrisy of the Western countries, especially America, which on the one hand calls for democracy, and on the other hand supported the military forces in Egypt to oust Morsi, who was democratically elected; which calls for human rights on the one hand, and on the other hand not only left but supported the military in Egypt to commit massacres against thousands of their own people...

3. The Hizb calls upon the Islamic Ummah as a whole to work for the application of the Shariah and the establishment of the Khilafah "Caliphate", for it is the one that will restore the pride of Islam and its victory over everything else. The Hizb calls upon the Ummah to work for it on the method of the Prophet (saw) when he established the first Islamic State in Medina. The Muslim Ummah must abandon and refuse the democratic way appointed by the West, because it was found only to realize the interests of the West. Any Islamic party that came to power through the democratic principle was ousted by the West, citing examples from what happened to the Al-Jabha al-Islamiya lil Inqadh in Algeria, Erbakan in Turkey, and what is happening today in Egypt. The democracy that is sung about by the Kafir West is nothing but lies and deception. The West and America will strike anyone who violates their interests and their colonial plans, even if he was elected in the democratic process...
