The Ummah's Engagement with the Address: "The Khilafah Is the System of Governance in Islam"
(Translated)

Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah Sudan held a political address in the heart of Port Sudan’s main market on Monday, December 23, 2024, under the title: "The Khilafah Is the System of Governance in Islam." The speech was delivered by Ustaadh Yaqub Ibrahim, a member of Hizb ut Tahrir, who emphasized that Allah Almighty has obligated Muslims to implement the rulings of Islam and organize all aspects of their lives according to it. He explained that this implementation occurs through a legitimate Baya’a to a Khalifah (Caliph) who establishes the Deen and conveys it to the world.

He highlighted the obligation of the Khilafah and the necessity for the Ummah to work toward its re-establishment, referencing several texts, including the words of Allah Almighty:

[وَأَنِ احْكُم بَيْنَهُم بِمَا أَنزَلَ اللهُ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَاءَهُمْ وَاحْذَرْهُمْ أَن يَفْتِنُوكَ عَن بَعْضِ مَا أَنزَلَ اللهُ إِلَيْكَ فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا فَاعْلَمْ أَنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ أَن يُصِيبَهُم بِبَعْضِ ذُنُوبِهِمْ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنَ النَّاسِ لَفَاسِقُونَ]

“And judge, [O Muhammad], between them by what Allah has revealed and do not follow their inclinations and beware of them, lest they tempt you away from some of what Allah has revealed to you. And if they turn away - then know that Allah only intends to afflict them with some of their [own] sins. And indeed, many among the people are defiantly disobedient.” [Al-Ma'ida:49]. And with the hadith narrated by Al-Bukhari from Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), in which the Prophet Muhammad (saw) said: «وَمَنْ مَاتَ وَلَيْسَ فِي عُنُقِهِ بَيْعَةٌ مَاتَ مِيتَةً جَاهِلِيَّةً» “He who dies having defected from obedience (to the Amir) and discards his association with the main body of the (Muslim) community, dies the death of one belonging to the Days of Jahiliyyah.”

He also highlighted how today's governing systems, whether secular democratic, civil, or military states, contradict Islam. He clarified that all these systems are outdated products of the colonial powers.

Finally, he urged those present, as well as the entire Muslim Ummah, to work towards establishing this great obligation: the second Khilafah Rashidah (rightly guided Caliphate) upon the method of the Prophethood.

The audience reacted with strong and positive engagement, expressing joy, optimism, and chants of praise and takbeer. Some even requested at the end for the address to continue and not conclude, given the beneficial nature of the discussion.
