Capitalist Economy Disintegrates Family and its Values

Recent ‘Gender equality’ workshop in Ngorongoro, Northern Tanzania raised concern on issue of some spouses from the patriarchal community being abandoned by their husbands who left their villages in search of employment ventures into urban centers, and in some cases do not trickle back to their families.

This situation not only creates a sense of loneliness, anguish, sorrow and desperation among women who are left behind, but also forced them to bear huge responsibilities to fend their families in the rural homestead with little support from their patriarchal community support (The Guardian, 27 December 2024)

Regarding this issue, Hizb ut Tahrir / Tanzania has this to say:

Apart from tribal cultural norms that can not be ignored, but plays a negligible role on this particular issue, the real cause is the evil capitalist economic policies that has led to the following:

1. Economic exploitation under the guise of foreign investments caused economic base in some villages to be frustrated or collapse, since some of vital and survival factors such as land for grazing, source of water, such as rivers are being privatized. 2. The nature of the capitalist ideology that is not sincerely serving people, since its main consideration is benefit making it to mainly concentrate on urban areas unlike marginalized and deprived rural areas, the culmination of this is a higher rural – urban migration; making rural residence rushing for green pastures in the cities.

Those scenarios forced villagers to search other ways of survival.

This issue is among many evil products of capitalist ideology that has to awaken thinkers including ‘gender equality’ activists, who instead of fighting for ‘women empowerment’ and ‘equality’, slogans that further destroy social system, they should resort their effort to totally eliminate the capitalist ideology and replace it with another ideology, which is Islam, that is capable of addressing all human problems fairly and radically.
