Pearls of Wisdom by Ibn Taymiyyah: “Disease of criticising all the time...”
IBN T A Y M I Y Y A H, may Allah (swt) have mercy upon him, was born in Harran, an old city within the Arabian Peninsula between Syria and Iraq, on the tenth or the twelfth of the month Rabi al-Awwal the year 661H. He and his family were later forced to flee to Damascus due to the occupation by the Tartars. He came from a family of scholars. At an early age he amazed his teachers at the strength of his memory, keen intelligence and depth of understanding. Ibn Taymiyyah was one of the greatest scholars in which his knowledge still lives on till this day. The Ummah Voice Podcast presents our audience a segment of his quotes during the holy month of Ramadan.
One of Ibn Taymiyyah’s wisdom quote is: “Some people have the disease of criticising all the time. They forget the good about others and only mention their faults. They are like flies that avoid the good and pure places and land on the bad and wounds. This is because of the evil within the self and the spoiled nature.”
Flies are drawn to filth, wounds, dirt, decay, and ignore the pure places. People are at times drawn to the negative traits in people often overlooking the positive ones. Individuals who are concentrating on the negative traits and can’t see beyond that then they need to take a closer look at what is within themselves so don’t be the fly that is drawn to filth.
