News Right Now: Only a Matter of Time
Welcome to the episode, ‘Only a Matter of Time’
The last two decades, in the name of its so-called ‘War on Terror’, the West began its overt, co-ordinated global campaign to use all possible means to halt the rise of Islam and block the Muslim Ummah from retaking charge of its own affairs. But despite this... the rise of Islam continues, the Ummah is becoming increasingly conscious of its own identity, its glorious history, and the great responsibility to itself and to all of humankind. The revival has become obvious to all onlookers, with the Muslim world and the west sharing the conviction that it’s only a matter of time before this Ummah, like a giant, awakes and takes charge resuming its rightful leadership and role in the post-modern world.
It is the ideology of Capitalism which entrenched the notion of secular, liberal democracy within the political systems of the western nations, and one that they export to the rest of the world at every opportunity under the guise of trade, military intervention, humanitarianism, development and technological progress. However it takes only a little scrutiny to realise that this Capitalist political system is so inherently flawed, that it is far from being a superior system of life that yields progress and advancement within societies. As an example, it utterly fails to fulfill the rights of people, which can be seen in the obvious social and interpersonal struggles in all communities, the lack of development, growing rates of poverty and inadequate education in much of the world, especially the global south.
Likewise nor does the political system adequately hold to account the responsibilities of the governments and those in authority. This is obvious given the huge amounts of mis-spent funds that all Capitalist nations are eventually proven to be guilty of. Dictators are blamed for greedily keeping the country’s own wealth, but western politicians are no different when they give financial favours to friends, and further the interests of companies whose boards they sit on, making vast sums of money whilst creating and securing more opportunities for themselves. Simultaneously the failure of the west’s economic system, can be seen through the disproportionate rates of income tax that even the poor are expected to pay; whilst wealthy people can avail of legitimate legal loopholes to pay less tax, and huge multinational corporations are well known to continually evade paying taxes altogether!
So in this way the Capitalist economic system is clearly biased towards the wealthy, and it predictably continues to increase the gap between rich and poor. Such that today we see stark disparities in those with wealth and many new phenomena in the means to amass wealth that all would agree never existed before. Such as the emergence of the super-rich, like Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Elon musk and Warren Buffet whose personal wealth is even more than many small countries, and the new norm of making millions, rapidly and devoid of much effort via social media. The flip side of this is the erosion of the middle class in much of the world which is leaving tens of millions more in poverty, and the knock on effect upon those already in abject poverty in low income nations, which for them has worsened.
Further to this the western secular framework has only served to destroy the social and interpersonal relations between men and women. Whatever the age and relationship may be, secularism has defeated the purpose of human interaction, by reducing it to one that is based on economic gain and personal gratification. The objectification of first women and then men and now even children, has created societies where the worth of a person is based on superficial ideas of beauty and material success, removing the notion that the worth of a person should be based on his or her character and good conduct.
We witness an epidemic of domestic violence and sex crimes, human trafficking and family breakdown. Shattered lives and shattered minds, and a generation broken by not one but a string of traumas, often requiring years of healing for a person to just function, live and prosper once again. The secular, liberal, democratic system achieved this egregious reality that we cannot escape by insisting people have the freedom to abandon their families in the pursuit of wealth, chase their ambitions at the expense of caring for their children or elderly relatives. It encouraged society to tolerate all manner of vices like transgenderism and homosexuality under the guise of individualism - and secularism cornered people into the worship of materialism via free trade and globalisation, rather than the worship of a creator.
The systemic racism of Europe, Australia and America has been long exposed, yet only now is it accepted as a legitimate reality. Racism is directly linked to the west’s sordid history of colonisation and slavery. Their nation state model is founded on the precepts of their belief in supremacy and these ideas have become the values and principles that justify the benefit they seek to attain via the insidiousness of their self declared ideology. There is no doubt that in the west people of colour are at a disadvantage in relation to employment, housing and education - as civil society is set up to consider them as ‘minorities’ with different interests and requirements. Even the idea of political correctness is little more than a tool to entrench difference rather than impose equality.
And this flawed mix of benefit led politics and economics, also serves to alienate minorities, leaving people throughout the western world disenfranchised and distant from the political process, vulnerable and with their needs unmet. Secularism and a biased economic system, rooted in a flawed political structure has exacerbated the epidemic of racial hatred, much of it violent and much of it perpetrated by the authorities, as seen in the countless examples of police brutality, anywhere, from the USA to India and Italy to Australia, which demonstrably originates in this unjust political system, because alongside benefit, Capitalism places nationhood at its core – and the racism we witness emerges from their practise of nationalism- look only to the racist chants at the football matches in Europe, unchanged since the 1950’s!
The Muslim ummah is not only a witness to the desolation bought by Capitalism and its secular, liberal democracy – she is a victim of it, having been physically occupied for generations, pillaged of her wealth and destroyed politically. The essence of the Islamic tradition was to an extent uprooted from the psyche of the Muslim masses, through colonisation, exploitation and the advent of new and ridiculous beliefs and priorities.
However few know as well as this Ummah that the alternative to western hegemony and all the evils and ills associated with its godless practise, is Islam. And based on this deep conviction, the Muslims are steadily becoming aware of the glory that awaits this noble Ummah. By returning to Islamic practise in thought and deed, Muslims are now becoming convinced that the Islamic alternative is the solution not only to our problems in the west, or in our homelands, but that Islam as a holistic system of life, governance, economic strength and social justice.... There is no doubt that Islam will vanquish the Capitalist order, because it alone is capable of uprooting the current deeply flawed political structures we have mentioned. Islam has solutions to all the problems that humans are capable of creating, because it is the revealed speech of the Creator swt, who has full knowledge of us, His weak and limited, dependant slaves.
