News Right Now: Critical Crossroads
Welcome to News Right Now, ‘Critical Crossroads'
On 16th August Pakistani PM Imran Khan chaired a National Security Committee (NSC) emergency meeting, attended by federal minister’s and military commanders. The meeting resulted in five demands put forward to the Taliban, and determined that only after the complete approval of these demands, will Afghanistan have international recognition and continue to receive financial aid.
The five demands were:
1. That the Taliban form an inclusive Democratic government, representative of the diverse ethnic and tribal groups within the region.
2. That Human rights are upheld according to the Geneva Convention.
3. That rights for women and minorities are upheld...
4. That Afghan soil will not be used by any terrorist group to wage attacks against other countries, and...
5. That Afghanistan remains subject to international law under the Taliban as it had been under recently ousted president Ashraf Ghani.
The NSC meeting also reaffirmed that Pakistan would “continue to work with the international community and all Afghan stakeholders, to facilitate an inclusive political settlement”! As such, Pakistan’s role is once again to be the US’s hired facilitator, obediently and even desperately upholding American interests, however far these are from the aspirations of the Muslims of both countries. The sincere and aware people can see that the Bajwa-Imran regime is the strongest pillar of US interests in the region. US president Biden was confident of the loyalty of the Bajwa-Imran regime, and this loyalty allowed him to withdraw US troops from Afghanistan, knowing full well that Pakistan’s rulers will facilitate the trapping of the Taliban within the confines of the US directed negotiations, the colonialist international order and the Western invention of fixed border nation-statehood.
Indeed Pakistan duly played its part from the start by threatening the Taliban not to take Kabul by force, and pressuring the Taliban to engage with the US - even suggesting a power sharing government with this Tahgout of Democracy! Since the 1980’s Pakistan has been unsupportive of the Afghan Mujahideen, abandoning the country to the then Soviet Union as they began their military incursions in Afghanistan, until the supreme victory of the Mujahideen in 1988.
Since the War on Terror, Pakistan’s role in Afghanistan has been far more involved, albeit a two faced agenda, as America’s agent and regional lacky. Being an official ally of the US, successive Pakistani governments have worked tirelessly, revolving their own domestic and foreign policies around their role and relationship with America. This created a network of injustices towards not only the Afghan people but Pakistani citizens as well. Enabling US troops and mercenaries to flood into both countries, the funding of the Pakistani Taliban, the creation of chaos, confusion and fear, and upholding the US formed Kabul government, whilst turning a blind eye to the insidious practices of the Northern Alliance and their own secret services the ISI. Both responsible for the barbaric kidnap and torture of countless Afghan and Pakistani citizens by the Americans in the prisons of Bagram and Guantanamo.
It was the Taliban’s and the Mujahideen’s Islamic responsibility towards their people which led them to act against the international opium trade, the rape and victimisation of women and boys within the tribal communities and the enabling of Islamic education in the villages. However Pakistan’s political and military leaders continued to uphold the filthy western narratives and lies, about the sincere Mujahideen, characterising them as backward extremists, whom the whole world let alone the country should fear. But today, Afghanistan has yet again proven itself to be the ‘graveyard of empires’... due to the firm Iman, constancy and perseverance of the Mujahideen, this time under the tutelage of the Taliban.
These students of knowledge had the sincere desire to evict all influences that are against Islamic principles from their country, and live according to Islamic values and Shari rules. Also they are men of honour enough to reject foreign invaders and defy living in servitude under the rules of the occupiers for some petty benefit and material gain. If a small and materially weak nation such as Afghanistan can be victorious over the heavily armed global superpowers, the US, UK, France, Canada, Germany and Australia - through men, many of whom do not even wear shoes! whose weapons were 'Ghanimah' (war booty) and are old weapons at that!... not the state of the art killing machines or AI the arms trade is lauded for.
Then a powerful nation with nuclear capabilities like Pakistan, with the seventh largest army in the world, and with thousands of highly trained men of honour, who carry Islam as an ideology and essentially have conviction in the promise of Allah. These men can easily overpower the cowardly western militaries, dismantle their Taghout rule and so liberate our Muslim lands completely InshaAllah!
Pakistan is in a perfect position to establish Islam holistically, and unify the Muslim lands throughout central Asia, assuming leadership of the Muslim world InshaAllah. In this way, Pakistan has so much more to offer its deserving people, the wider Ummah and even the world by way of ruling by Islam and presenting it as an alternative to the disgraceful, despotic and redundant ideology of the west.
Allah swt says in the Quran,
“those who take the disbelievers for friends rather than the believers. Are they seeking honour in their company? But, indeed, all honour belongs to Allah” [Surah An Nisa Aya 139.]
