The Vision of a Successful Political System
Allah (swt) says:
[قَدْ جَٓاءَكُمْ مِنَ اللّٰهِ نُورٌ وَكِتَابٌ مُب۪ينٌۙ * يَهْد۪ي بِهِ اللّٰهُ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ رِضْوَانَهُ سُبُلَ السَّلَامِ وَيُخْرِجُهُمْ مِنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ اِلَى النُّورِ بِاِذْنِه۪ وَيَهْد۪يهِمْ اِلٰى صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَق۪يمٍ]
“There certainly has come to you from Allah a light and a clear Book. through which Allah guides those who seek His pleasure to the ways of peace, brings them out of darkness and into light by His Will, and guides them to the Straight Path.” [Al-Maidah: 15-16].
All praise is to Allah for the blessing of the Qur’an, all praise is to Allah for the blessing of the Iman, all praise is to Allah for the blessing of the Qur’an!
The mercy of our Lord is so immense that He (swt) again and again brings us to Ramadan. Even though the majority of people might not be aware of this mercy, Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, sends His blessing of Ramadan again and again to entire humankind. Certainly the rest of humankind will not comprehend this blessing, unless the Muslims comprehend it themselves. This blessing is one that sweeps out the dominance of darknesses with the message to replace them with the Light of Islam, a formula that guides all of mankind to success. This message is the message of obtain the highest of success in this world and the hereafter...
No nation can succeed without a state. However, the success of a state depends on that, whether it has a successful political vision or not. So, what is the success of a state?
Since its first days, mankind was only able to survive upon a system and its governance. The traces of those nations, who owned a system, left can be found even today. For example; remember the “Code of Ur-Nammu” of the Sumerians, who existed around 2100 BC; or we find the Code of Hammurabi, which existed around 1760 BC; or we know of the Mongol Empire, which reached its heights under the leadership of Genghis Khan’s “Yassa Codes” in the 12th century; and many others…”
All of these are proves that every nation is in need of laws and regulations, i.e. a system; and that it needs sanctions in case of violation of these laws; and that it needs an authority that governs upon these laws and regulations; and most importantly, that every nation submits to an authority... In brief; every nation asked and still does ask for a leader to guide them. Throughout all times every nation did follow someone. Every nation needs a POLITICAL WILLPOWER, that leads it, regulates and assumes the responsibility for its affairs, fights off dangers and harms, that lifts it from a primitive lifestyle and leads it to dominance over the world in an enlightened, progressive way. This is in fact the definition of politics!
However; the biggest problem has always been the question and challenge of where to find these systems, and by whom they should be made. Also, history has proven that bad systems derailed nations, sooner or later led to their decline and even ruin.
Whereas a sound system presented by a sound mind:
- does not only lead its own nation to peace, but all other nations it gets in contact with, and all humankind.
- leads the nation and every single individual in it to sound development; i.e. it does not only ensure material development, but one that makes that nation a superior, an inspiring and worth to emulate role model in moral, ethical, cultural, scientific and all other spheres.
- is in harmony with the human nature; for as the primary step, it makes the correct definition of the human and the human’s needs. Therefore; it ignores all differences regarding race, color, language, religion, gender or else, and provides for the needs for every single human under the same lens, with the same measures, the same grade of importance, and is just, protecting and supporting of every human being.
Today, people across the world, and also those in the supposedly developed European and American lands, are suffering at the same level as the people in the lands that are forcefully prevented from development through the colonisation, invasion, and wars of Western countries. They too are unable to protect their children from any danger, moreover they do not have any hope for the future of their children, so much so that they do not give birth to any. This is, because the systems that govern over them, have anaesthetised them with a drug called “freedoms” to rip them not only off their material wealth, but all of humanitarian, moral, and religious values. So much so, that even the bodies of innocent children have become a tool to satisfy the satanic, perverse desires of a few powerful people. We see that even those suffering under wars and invasions do strive much more and assert much more vital energy to live and maintain their existence despite all forms of oppression than others. Especially countless oppressed Muslims in the Muslim regions, like those in Gaza, in Sudan, East Turkistan, Myanmar or Kashmir, despite of horrendous oppressions, suffer less under fear (anxieties) or jaundice (depression) than those living under so-called free and peace. In fact, the increasing number of people preferring death over life (suicides) in free and developed countries, who own all economic opportunities, is due to the world dominating systems that are incapable and unwilling to solve human problems.
And history has shown that the only system that ever ensured development and prosperity for humans and societies, that successfully nourished morals, trust and peace in social interaction, in the interaction between the ruled and the ruler, that successfully established consistent indiscriminating justice in the implementation of the laws; that successfully protected those under its protection despite of all adverse circumstances against all kinds of threats was the System of Islam. This was how the Muslim society was able to bring about a unique, first ever pure and fresh atmosphere to mankind in history. It achieved this my means of the true successful vision that is key to a sound political system.
Those who embraced this political vision did not progress through money, or through the exploitation of the earth’s resources, or through industrial inventions and discoveries. No, moreover they succeeded despite suffering so much poverty, that they had to bind stones over their bellies from hunger. Because true development/progress can only be achieved with ideas and not material wealth. Eventually their ideas emanating from the sound vision of success gained them also material wealth, scientific and industrial achievements, discoveries that opened horizons for humankind, and also military power.
But, when they started to distance themselves from these ideas, they entered an inexorable decline, leaving them incapable of even protecting their ideological wealth in the end. Therefore -just like two times two equals four- the Muslim Ummah will regain its political success the moment it claims back this ideological wealth.
So, how will the Muslim Ummah reclaim this ideological wealth?
First of all; the Ummah has to get rid of the Orientalist interpretation of Islam dictated by the colonialist Kuffar (disbelievers), and recognize Islam as the rescuing and successful message sent by Allah (swt). This is; because the Aqeedah of “La ilahe illallah Muhammedun Rasulullah” stipulates to reject any idea or form of thinking from outside of Islam with a massive and resolute “LA”; and contrary to Christian way of thinking not to reduce this vow to merely the limited definition of Allah to a “creator”, but rather to acknowledge Him as the true owner, king and ruler of everything.
For as the owner, king and ruler of everything, Allah (swt) has sent down Islam as a complete and comprehensive way of life. Actually, this is the fundamental requirement. Because, the thought that Allah would set only some rituals of worship and prohibitions while leaving the world to the will and desires of humankind, is accusing Allah with injustice and thus a blatant defamation of Allah. On the contrary; our Lord has clearly stated that He (swt) has sent a perfect system of life for entire mankind:
[اَلْيَوْمَ يَئِسَ الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ د۪ينِكُمْ فَلَا تَخْشَوْهُمْ وَاخْشَوْنِۜ اَلْيَوْمَ اَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ د۪ينَكُمْ وَاَتْمَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعْمَت۪ي وَرَض۪يتُ لَكُمُ الْاِسْلَامَ د۪ينًا]
“Today the disbelievers have given up all hope of undermining your faith. So do not fear them; fear Me! Today I have perfected your faith for you, completed My favour upon you, and chosen Islam as your way.” [Al-Maidah: 3].
Therefore; Islam is the only sound ideology that rescues the Muslims from oppression, hands them the essence and key to successful progress. When the Muslims are free and make progress, every single human will be rescued and guided into progress. “This ideology provides the spiritual power that instils in the Muslim who embraces it the highest moral virtues (such as righteousness, honesty, and trustworthiness) and the most distinguished human qualities (such as courage, heroism, and generosity) of which one can be proud and be praised; the material power, through its economic order, to justly and fairly meet the bodily and material needs of oneself, one’s family, one’s neighbour, the whole society, and all humanity; and the inner spiritual power that forms a conscience aware of one’s relationship with Allah. Aren’t strength in material, moral, and spiritual terms precisely the criteria that humanity today is looking for in a successful political vision?! So, then, this is the successful political vision that fulfils all of these criteria one hundred percent: Islam!
Every Muslim knows this verse of Allah (swt) very well:
[اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يُغَيِّرُ مَا بِقَوْمٍ حَتّٰى يُغَيِّرُوا مَا بِاَنْفُسِهِم]
“Indeed, Allah will not change the circumstances of any people until they change what is within themselves.” [Ar-Ra’d: 11].
There are two aspects to be understood in this Ayah: Firstly; as long as a nation does not abandon the source of its good characters, Allah will not take away His blessings upon that nation. - In fact that was the reason for the wrath of Allah upon all the peoples, ummahs, and nations before us. The moment they abandoned the rules and laws of Allah and adopted laws, regulations and values out of their own minds, Allah lead them to destruction and ruin, as described in the rest of Surah Ar-Rad verse 11, for they “was no repelling, no help for them when Allah willed a punishment on them”. This meaning is supported in another verse of the Qur’an:
[وَمَنْ اَعْرَضَ عَنْ ذِكْر۪ي فَاِنَّ لَهُ مَع۪يشَةً ضَنْكاً وَنَحْشُرُهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ اَعْمٰى]
“But whoever turns away from My Reminder will certainly have a miserable life,1 then We will raise them up blind on the Day of Judgment.” [Ta Ha: 124].
The second way of how to understand this Ayah is, to resume the obligatory system provided by Allah -which is the political system of Allah that makes the nafs, the essence of the Muslim nation- and to regain success in this world and the hereafter. Allah (swt) is the most Merciful and He never abandons those who turn back to Him, and He does not make the unsuccessful.
[وَعَدَ اللّٰهُ الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا مِنْكُمْ وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَيَسْتَخْلِفَنَّهُمْ فِي الْاَرْضِ كَمَا اسْتَخْلَفَ الَّذ۪ينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْۖ وَلَيُمَكِّنَنَّ لَهُمْ د۪ينَهُمُ الَّذِي ارْتَضٰى لَهُمْ وَلَيُبَدِّلَنَّهُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ خَوْفِهِمْ اَمْنًاۜ يَعْبُدُونَن۪ي لَا يُشْرِكُونَ ب۪ي شَيْـًٔاۜ وَمَنْ كَفَرَ بَعْدَ ذٰلِكَ فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ هُمُ الْفَاسِقُونَ]
“Allah has promised those of you who believe and do good that He will certainly make them successors in the land, as He did with those before them; and will surely establish for them their faith which He has chosen for them; and will indeed change their fear into security—provided that they worship Me, associating nothing with Me. But whoever disbelieves after this ˹promise˺, it is they who will be the rebellious.” [An-Nur: 55].
In light of all this we see that the Muslim Ummah is need of the guidance of an ideological political work, that is based upon the ideology of Islam, does not take the slightest actions outside of what the Qur’an and the Sunnah has obliged, and that has no other goals other than set by Islam - and that guide/leader is only an Islamic political party. This at the same time is the order of Allah (swt):
[وَلْتَكُن مِّنكُمْ أُمَّةٌ يَدْعُونَ إِلَى الْخَيْرِ وَيَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنكَرِ ۚ وَأُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ]
“Let there be a group among you who call ˹others˺ to goodness, encourage what is good, and forbid what is evil—it is they who will be successful.” [Aal-i İmran:104]. This why Muslims must not understand the message of Islam as simply a spiritual message, but rather a POLITICAL MESSAGE that aims at saving and progressing mankind, while at the same time inviting mankind to this successful message.
[يَهْد۪ي بِهِ اللّٰهُ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ رِضْوَانَهُ سُبُلَ السَّلَامِ وَيُخْرِجُهُمْ مِنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ اِلَى النُّورِ بِاِذْنِه۪ وَيَهْد۪يهِمْ اِلٰى صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَق۪يمٍ]
“There certainly has come to you from Allah a light and a clear Book. through which Allah guides those who seek His pleasure to the ways of peace, brings them out of darkness and into light by His Will, and guides them to the Straight Path.”[Al-Maidah:16].
Maybe we can summarize all of the above the following way: Each and every one of the political systems that are applied today have proven their failure. It has been revealed that they dragged humankind to a mirage in the midst of a hot dry desert. The only and indubitable capable system that possesses the true, sound and sustained vision of success is Islam, and therefore the god-fearing (muttaqi), pure (mukhlis), and sincere (muhsin) Muslims. All they need to do is to join hands to work for the reestablishment of the life and the system emanating from the Islamic Aqeedah as is commanded by Allah (swt) and shown by His Messenger (saw). The materialized shape of this system is only the one promised by Allah Suhanehu wa Ta’ala, heralded by His Messenger Sallallahu aleyhi wa Sallam - the Second Khilafah Rashidah (rightly guided Caliphate) State, that has to be reestablished upon the Method of the Prophethood.
