On 07 March, 2011, Sheikh Hasina, the Bangladeshi version of Colonel Gaddafi, in person has approved a policy whereby she amends the Book of Allah swt (Na'uzubillah). The title of the policy is known as ‘National Women Development Policy 2011' which she approved at a weekly cabinet meeting a day before the International Women's Day. The policy is the revival of 1997 Women Development Policy, which was formulated during the previous tenure of her party. The National Women Development Policy adopted in 1997 stipulated equal rights for women to inheritance of property and land contradicting the inheritance rules of Islam. Regarding the policy, prime minister's press secretary Abul Kalam Azad said in a press briefing ‘The cabinet has approved draft Women Development Policy 2011 with provisions for ensuring equal rights for women in every sphere. This will help empower women in decision-making and ensure protection for them,' ‘The women should be given equal opportunity to property, employment, market and business,' reads one the clauses of the policy which was also supplemented by another clause that advocated their economic empowerment. Moreover, Shirin Sharmin, the state minister for women and children has said that they would draw a national action plan based on this policy which says, "Provide women with full control over their right to land, earned property, health, education, training, information, inheritance, credit, technology and opportunity to earn... And enact necessary new laws to put these rights into practice." Earlier the caretaker government of 2007-2008 had announced in 2008 the Women Development Policy legalizing women's equal rights, including property rights, but finally stopped to implement the policy with strong opposition from ulama and Islamic political parties including Hizb ut-Tahrir.  

The step that this government has taken in the name of empowering women and providing justice to women by amending the rule of Allah (swt) decreed in Surah Baqarah, Surah Nisa and others, is nothing but sheer deception, lie and ignorance. If we take a look to the record of the immense nature of brutality, oppression and subjugation of women under this government or the previous ones be it under secular democratic governments, caretaker, autocratic or dictatorial governments of the past it shows how this man made western secular systems have systematically oppressed women, deprived them from education, honor and dignity. Sheikh Hasina's government knows it fully well that, it is her government which has produced serial rapists. According to press reports, BCL (the students wing of Awami League) activists in many universities and institutions have notoriously established torture cells and rape houses. In many cases, they record the violent rape scenes, make CDs and sell them in local video shops. It is worth mentioning that last time when Awami League was in power (1996-2001), in 1998 one notorious cadre of BCL named Jasimuddin Manik openly celebrated his ‘rape century' by distributing sweets in university campus as he completed raping 100 girls at Jahangirnagar University, second most prestigious university in Bangladesh after the university of Dhaka drawing huge media coverage! Though serious resentment and curse roared the country at that time, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina government remained mum and the criminal did not face any exemplary punishment. Moreover the then Sheikh Hasina's government has arranged a scholarship for this rapist to Australia to have his higher education! This is Hasina's record in women empowermentt. Moreover Sheikh Hasina who wishes to empower women by amending the law of Allah swt, is indeed very nonsensical! How can she reply to this that she herself has ratified a law where prostitution has been legalized as a profession in Bangladesh? Is this how she is going to empower women at the order of her imperialist master, UNHCR? Is this how she fulfills her election manifesto of providing economic opportunities to women? Is this is how she is going to make women respected in the society? Sheikh Hasina must know that today during the rule of capitalism at least 60 million girls who would otherwise be expected to be alive are "missing" from various populations, mostly in Asia, as a result of sex-selective abortions, infanticide or neglect. Does Hasina know that globally, at least one in three women and girls is beaten or sexually abused in her lifetime under secular capitalism? (UN Commission on the Status of Women, 2/28/00)

Indeed in following the command of the westerners, the government of Hasina is playing dangerously with the belief of 160 million Muslims in Bangladesh. Sheikh Hasina indeed will be personally responsible for her action which she is undertaking to please her masters USA and UK while angering the Lord of the universe, Allah swt. Surely her action in developing a women policy in contradiction to the law of Allah swt will do no good to the muslimah in Bangladesh except increasing family discomfort and more violence against women. It is only under the system of Islamic Khilafah "Caliphate" that women and man will truly be liberated from any kind of oppression and injustice that humanity is suffering today.

    Hizb ut-Tahrir organized a demonstration today at 11.30AM from Bijoynagar to Bait ul-Mukrram masjid against the aggression on Libya by the imperialist disbelieving states, France, Britain and America. Several hundred members, activists and supporters of the party attended the demonstration. Before starting the demonstration a member of Hizb ut-Tahrir delivered a speech in which he made the following points:

1. The French, British and American intervention in Libya is a clear act of aggression against the Muslim Ummah. The purpose of the Western intervention is to try to ensure that whoever takes over Libya will see that Libya continues to remain under Western colonial influence. The talk of humanity, humanitarian values etc does not suit the Westerners who do not even fulfil their responsibility towards their own parents! Furthermore these are the very colonial powers that backed the tyrant Gaddafi and his regime for decades, along with other tyrannical regimes. Indeed they continue to back oppressive regimes in the Muslims countries like that of Sheikh Hasina in Bangladesh.
2. The tyrant Gaddafi must be removed and the people of Libya must be given the support of the global Muslim Ummah especially the Muslim armies. The problems of the Muslim world need to be solved by the Muslims. Hizb ut-Tahrir calls upon the Muslims to resist the imperialist aggression on Libya. Hizb ut-Tahrir also calls upon Muslim armies, particularly the armed forces in the region, to take up their obligation and liberate the people of Libya from Gaddafi and his cronies. With a force of over 450,000 the Egyptian army is more than capable of ending Gaddafi's murder and mayhem. If the Saudi army can enter Bahrain to protect the tyrant there, why isn't it able to come to the rescue of the people of Libya? If the despots of the Arab League can come to a resolution of a no-fly zone why are they not able to release their armies to enter Libya? Why have they invited in the very same forces that caused hundreds of thousands of deaths in Iraq? Why is the Bangladesh army in their barracks? The rulers in Bangladesh have been forcing them to be an ‘army on pay,' sending them all over the world to protect and guard the interests of the imperialists. If our army can be sent abroad to participate in the wars of the West to loot the resources of the Islamic world in Africa and elsewhere, then why are they not being sent for protecting their oppressed brothers from the tyrant Gaddafi?! Allah (swt) says:

   وَإِنِ اسْتَنْصَرُوكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ فَعَلَيْكُمُ النَّصْرُ  

   "But if they seek your aid in religion, it is your duty to help them" [Al-Anfaal:72] 

3. The only way for the Muslims to achieve their twin goal of liberating themselves from the imperialists; and ending the kufr, tyrannical rule of the Western agents, is to re-establish the Khilafah "Caliphate" State. This is what will achieve real change by implementing the Qur'an and Sunnah; unifying the Ummah, her resources and her armies; and ensuring just accountable rulers who fulfil their responsibilities towards the people, Muslims and non-Muslims alike. Hizb ut-Tahrir calls upon the Muslims to direct their energy towards working for the Khilafah "Caliphate" state which is their Islamic obligation.

    Finally, on 16^th March, the saga of Raymond Davis abruptly came to an end.  The whole Pakistan was in a state of a shock.  People never had faith in the agent rulers that they would stand-up against their US masters but it was the manner and speed in which they capitulated that shocked the Ummah.  The trial was held inside the jail where media and public were not allowed.  After four hours of "hearing"it was revealed to the media that the heirs of the two murdered Pakistanis have accepted blood money (Diaya) worth 20 million rupees.  On the other hand, the lawyers of the heirs claimed that they were not even allowed to attend the proceedings of the court and they were illegally detained inside the jail.  They claim that all this was under coercion and the heirs were made to sign the deed under duress.  All the 18 hires are missing and their whereabouts are known; this also casts doubts on government claims.  Has this been an independent decision by the families the government would have made sure to bring them on media in order to quell all speculations and suspicions.  But now, it is only government's story which is being reproduced over and over again by the media.  The condition of the homes of these families also paint a different picture.  Looks like that the people were abducted from their homes as household utensils were scattered and the food was still in cooking pots, which show an unplanned evacuation.

On the other the rulers tried their best to highlight that diayat aspects of the case as if the only crime Raymond commited was that of murdering two innocent Muslims.  The government downplayed all other offenses, which could have awarded him multiple years of jail sentence if not capital punishment.  These offenses included espionage, terrorism and illegal possession of arms.  The whole procedure of granting pardon based on blood money took just few hours whilst for an ordinary person it could have taken days.

This capitulation attracted large-scale condemnation and angry protests all across Pakistan.  The government spokespersons and ministers refused to appear before media and defend this shameful act of surrender.  But the positive aspects of this episode was that the system as well as various key figures from the ruling elite got completely exposed.  The farcical mask of "independent Judiciary" was ripped to pieces. The Supreme Court judges, who were seen by many as the final hope to salvage this kufr system, were badly battered by the media.  The media openly criticized the military and security top-brass and publically held them responsible for their connivance with the US.  As a result, this has generated a widespread public opinion that there is no possible remedy within the system and people are need a replacement.  All most every sane individual in the society has come to the obvious conclusion that these treacherous rulers are the actual cause of our subservience and they must be eradicated.

Day by day, the Ummah is inching closer to its inevitable destination- the Khilafah "Caliphate".  According to a recent survey by an international company (MEMRB) shows that a majority of 53% people in Pakistan consider the system of Khilafah "Caliphate" to be the only system which can solve the problems of Pakistan whilst only 13% thought democracy is the savior-system. The day is not far when the Ummah, with the help of the people-of-power, will eject these rulers and establish the Khilafah "Caliphate" that would account all the traitors of the Ummah with severest chastisement.
