IN CAPITALISM FIGHTING CORRUPTION AND GRAFT IS AN EMPTY SLOGAN
The latest audit report in Tanzania has further exposed that in capitalist ideology which adopts a criteria of interest, the issue of combating corruption and graft remains to be an empty statement with no reality even some individuals within the system claim to be serious in its engagement. The reality is you cannot be able to clean a messy while you are within.
The current Tanzania government which brands itself as a corruption fighter seemed to go nowhere similar as previous governments, or even worse.
The latest audit report by the Controller and Auditor General (CAG) of the year 2017/2018 reveals that there was a huge government squandering of trillions of shillings through dubious deals and transactions such as in illegal procurements and misappropriation through the country’s treasury.
This revelation shows in total, Tsh 1.3 trillion (equivalent to $562 million, was “embezzled.” Out of this amount, the treasury faces an audit query amounting to Tsh 885 billion (equivalent to $382.7m). Tsh 432.7 billion, equivalent to $188m, was embezzled through procurement of goods and services from five entities whose suppliers were neither approved nor legally registered.
It has also to be remembered that in 2018, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the National Assembly, having read the CAG’s report for the year 2016/17, discovered that Tsh 1.5 trillion ($640m) was “missing.” while government did not have any concrete explanation. When the re-audit of the same took place in February 2019, was revealed further anomalies, with the missing funds shooting to Tsh 2.4 trillion ($1.03bn).
The essence of all democratic politicians is to utilize the government to enrich themselves from public funds in the name of serving the people. They neither care being accounted by people nor by God, since in reality their secular thought has no concern of God guidance.
In Islam politics is taking care of the people and is a a huge trust that a politician has to be monitored by ordinary people, a strong institution of the Court of Injustice (Mahkamatu Madhalim) above all he/she would be harshly accounted in hereafter. Thus in Islam politics is not a beneficiary business but is a burden that need to be carried out with a fear of Allah (swt).
It is natural then under Islamic rule of Khilafah Rashidah (rightly guided Caliphate) a messy of graft and corruption would not be exist as in the capitalist system today.
