Amidst the tense relations between Bangladesh and India, Foreign Secretary Vikram Mishri visited Dhaka on December 9, 2024. At the beginning of the visit, in the afternoon, while he was meeting Foreign Secretary Md. Jasim Uddin at the state guesthouse Padma, the Indian Coast Guard entered Bangladeshi maritime territory and seized two ships named 'FB Meghna-5' and 'FB Laila-2' with 78 sailors.

A lawyer was killed on Tuesday after a scuffle broke out between Hindu protestors and security forces in Bangladesh over the denial of bail to Hindu priest Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari. A police inspector, Nurul Alam, told AFP that the victim has been identified as Saiful Islam Alif, a public prosecutor and had deep injuries on his head.

On the 16th of November, the Times of India reported that Uttarakhand Sanskrit University in Haridwar has initiated measures to enforce the Supreme Court’s ruling on students’ attire within the campus and in classrooms, University Vice-Chancellor Dinesh Chandra Shastri told TOI on Thursday. The move comes after complaints that "several Muslim women students continue to wear burqas or hijabs while in the university."
