At the recent G20 meeting, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio claimed that the United States was prepared to mediate the border and political tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan. He also claimed that Pakistan was concerned about “terrorist” attacks originating from Afghan soil.

The Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir in Wilayah Afghanistan views these remarks as yet another example of America’s political deception and its attempt to conceal its colonial objectives under the guise of diplomacy and mediation. They reflect America’s double standards: on the one hand, US maintains deep military and security ties with Pakistan and plays a role in exerting political and security pressure on Afghanistan; on the other, it presents itself as a mediator while seeking to consolidate its influence and secure its strategic interests.

We have repeatedly stated that Pakistan’s policy of pressure, threats, and cross-border bombardment against Afghanistan is an entirely American project, carried out on Washington’s behalf by the Pakistani military and its treacherous rulers. In fact, the continuation of the conflict between Afghanistan and Pakistan could create further opportunities for America to expand its political and security influence. How, then, can anyone place their hopes in mediation or intervention by the Great Satan when it is itself the architect, executor, and chief beneficiary of these very pressures?

The Americans speak of fighting “terrorism,” while they themselves are the foremost perpetrators of terrorism and the mother of all organized international crimes. Among the clearest examples of American state terrorism are its unconditional support for the brutal genocide in Gaza, its aggressive military attacks against Iran, and its bullying, pirate-like conduct in the Strait of Hormuz and regional waters. By what standard can a country whose hands are stained with the blood of millions of people, and which plunders the wealth of nations, claim to be a champion of peace and the fight against "terrorism"?

The truth is plain: America and the Pakistani military are working hand in hand to exert pressure on Afghanistan, seeking to prevent this land from becoming the starting point of an Islamic transformation in the region and a threat to their colonial interests. They want to keep Afghanistan confined to the margins of the arrogant and domineering international order, constrained and neutralized within the outdated framework of the nation-state and Western values.

Our message to those sincere individuals who hold power and authority in Afghanistan and Pakistan is this: conflict between these two Muslim lands will achieve nothing but weaken the strength and capabilities of Muslims and pave the way for greater intervention by foreign powers. Both the rulings of the Shariah and sound political insight therefore demand that they put an end to this destructive Fitnah and, instead of pursuing policies based on national interests, turn towards their true Islamic mission. That mission is none other than the re-establishment of the Second Rightly Guided Caliphate (Khilafah Rashidah), the unity of the Muslim Ummah, and the empowerment and dominance of the Deen of Allah (swt) throughout the world.

[فَمَنِ اتَّبَعَ هُدَايَ فَلَا يَضِلُّ وَلَا يَشْقَى]

“Whoever follows My guidance will neither go astray nor suffer.” [TMQ Ta-Ha: 123].
