India deployed another 125,000 soldiers to Kashmir, joining around the already existing 500,000. Meanwhile schools reopened but most classrooms remain empty as parents keep their children at home.

Indian occupied Kashmir has been in a state of shock since India has removed the special status of the State. The lockdown in the State has entered its third week and is a cause of uncertainty, not just for the people of Kashmir but also for all those who feel connected to their Muslim brothers and sisters.

On the 5th of August, Modi revoked Kashmir’s special status, securing India’s control over the region. Now, following Imran Khan’s statement regarding India’s actions, in which he compared India’s action in Kashmir to the example of Modi's earlier ethnic cleansing of Muslims in Gujarat, there are concerns over the future of the Muslims in Kashmir.
