On 12 August 2025, the Jordanian capital, Amman, hosted a tripartite meeting between Jordan, Syria, and the United States. The meeting was attended by Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and US Special Envoy Tom Barrack. The meeting was part of what was called an attempt to “contain the Sweida [Suwayda] crisis and support Syria’s stability.”
