The Palestinian Authority is a Foreign Body on the Land of Palestine
News:
"We should move quickly towards relief, recovery, reconstruction and peace. We are the government of Palestine, ready to hold our responsibilities in the Gaza Strip as we did before" said Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa in Norway on January 15th, 2025.
Comment:
This ‘readiness’ to be ‘responsible’ coincided with the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between the Hamas leadership from Gaza and the humiliated Zionist entity that has murdered tens of thousands of civilians in Gaza but failed to achieve its war aims. This statement was treated with general scorn and ridicule by many in Palestine who are disgust with the Palestinian Authority’s indifference to the suffering of Gaza and its total lack of any resistance to continual attacks by Zionist settlers upon Palestinians and their property in the West Bank. Worse than that, the Palestinian Authority has openly collaborated with the Zionist occupation against the resistance movements and has turned the Jenin refugee camp into a new mini-Gaza. The Palestinian Authority has encircled the camp, cut of basic services and launched deadly attacks against armed resistance fighters in the camp who it calls ‘outlaws’ and worse.
Much has been left unresolved, publicly at least, about what would happen in terms of governance of Gaza after the now agreed initial ceasefire and prisoner exchanges. However, last July a similar agreement was thought close to being finalized to which “Israel and Hamas had both signaled their acceptance of an “interim governance” plan that would begin with Phase 2, in which neither Hamas nor Israel would rule Gaza. Security would be provided by a force trained by the United States and backed by moderate Arab allies” as reported by the Washington Post. In this light, the statement of the Palestinian Authority Prime Minister could be better understood. Indeed, he also said, “it’s important to stress that it will not be acceptable for any entity to govern the Gaza Strip but the legitimate Palestinian leadership and the government of the State of Palestine."
However, there is a huge problem with viewing the Palestinian Authority’s position as an honest rejection of foreign interference in the affairs of Palestinians because the Palestinian Authority itself is a foreign body! Everything it does, though in the name of the nation and its people, is done to please the US and the Jewish entity. It seeks legitimacy and approval, not from its people whom it is now attacking and killing directly in Jenin, but rather from its Western masters who have given it a task bigger than its capability. Therefore, there is no difference between it or a Western-backed ‘interim body,’ except perhaps for who will be able to take a share of the billions of dollars of lucrative contracts for rebuilding Gaza that must pass through the hands of whoever is allowed to be responsible for it.
