Ramadan is the month that conveys us the glad tidings of victories. And these glad tidings came to life many times throughout the history of Islam. The Victory of Badr, the Conquest of Mecca, the Liberation of Palestine through Salahaddin al-Ayyubi, the expulsion of the Crusaders from the Land of al-Sham, wiping off the Mongols in the Battle of Ain Jalut are some examples of victories Muslims and their leaders…

In this Ayah, Allah Subhanahu wa Taala defined the Muslims' most important qualities. Firstly, the Believers - men and women - are guardians and friends, allies of one another. Secondly, as a necessity of this guardianship, they command each other to what is right (ma'ruf) and forbid and prevent each other from what is wrong (munkar).

The above verse will make any parent worried about how they will be able to fulfill this important obligation in a world which rapidly seems to be secularising and subsequently reducing the awareness of the Rabb.

Indeed, Allah (swt) has imposed laws for the changing of societies, laws which cannot be contradicted, and amongst these laws is His (swt) saying (إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُغَيِّرُ مَا بِقَوْمٍ حَتَّى يُغَيِّرُوا مَا بِأَنْفُسِهِمْ) “Indeed Allah does not change that which is in the people until they change with is within themselves.” [Surah Ar-Ra'ad 12:11].
