Press Release
The Corruption of Democracy is Beginning to be Felt in Kenya!

The registration of voters has come to an end with records of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) showing that of the targeted 18 million voters, only 14 million registered. This is a very small number compared to the number of eligible voters which is estimated to be 30 million. This is an open indication that most Kenyans will boycott the elections of March 2013. Many politicians have blamed the IEBC for not mobilizing citizens while on its part; the commission has blamed the politicians for not encouraging citizens to register. However, Hizb ut Tahrir / East Africa views that there are fundamental reasons that led to people boycotting the registration exercise which are:

Citizens lost hope in the leaders: Most citizens have lost faith in politicians who even after being in leadership positions for a long time have not solved their problems. Citizens have come to realize that democratic politicians are selfish who take leadership as a way to fill their stomachs while citizens wallow in poverty! All contenders in parties and alliances are not new to citizens as they served in the first, second and third governments and have not brought any changes other than the life of the ordinary citizen being more harsh. Beginning with lack of jobs, miserable salaries for workers, poor roads, poor healthcare provision, rising food prices, etc. All these problems have not been solved even after conducting four elections since the West brought multiparty politics to Kenya.

Violence in Democratic Elections: It is quite clear that democratic elections are not peaceful but full of violence emanating from politicians' thirst for power. It is normal for there to be disturbances before and after democratic elections not only in Kenya but the rest of Africa. Here in Kenya, tribal massacres were witnessed whereby according to reports by human rights organizations, politicians were the main perpetrators of the massacres. The killings of 1992, 1997 and 2007 is an example of the ferocity of democratic elections and the citizens won't forget that evil and in fact they have realized the cruelty of politicians whose hands are full of blood! This is evidence that voting in democratic elections endangers the lives of citizens.

Boycotting democratic elections is a silent protest by citizens against multiparty democracy which was brought in Kenya in 1992 by colonialists under allegations of new liberation of Kenyans. Half a century has not passed yet the evil of democracy has been laid bare in Kenya starting with corruption, drugs and other evils. Democracy has continued to better the life of a select few of politicians who milk the ordinary citizens! The objective of the West in bringing such politics is to sustain their colonialism in Kenya under a new face. Hizb ut Tahrir exposes that this boycotting of the elections will continue to be witnessed as long as these corrupt politics continue to be implemented.  This is not only in Kenya but in all countries including America and Britain which propagate these corrupt politics. Most Americans boycotted the November elections. It is openly known that the Kenyan community is feeling the corruption of Democracy that is spread throughout the world. Certainly soon Insha'Allah, the world will witness the implementation of the correct ideology, which is Islam, under the Khilafah "Caliphate" state which will remove evil politics of Democracy and the evil ideology of Capitalism.
